Add drop-down lists and validation rules
Limit what people can enter in cells, with drop-down lists, checkboxes and rules.
- Select the cells.
- On the Data tab, choose Data Validation.
- Choose a rule: a list of items, a list from a range, a checkbox, a number, a whole number, a date, a text length or a custom formula.
- Confirm.
Invalid entries are refused with an "Invalid entry" alert, or just warned about if you allow them.
