Automate documents with scripts
Write scripts that change a document, add custom menus and fetch data.
Scripts let you automate a document with JavaScript — insert text, build tables, format paragraphs, or add your own menu.
- Open the script editor from the ribbon (Scripts).
- Write your code using the
DocumentAppAPI. The editor offers completion and help. - Select Run.
Scripts are saved in the document and shared with co-editors. Each person approves a script before it runs for them, and a whole run is one undo step.
