Archive, delete and restore messages
Clear your inbox without losing mail, delete messages and get them back from Trash.
- Archive (e) moves a message out of the inbox into Archive. Nothing is deleted.
- Delete (#) moves it to Trash.
- In Trash or Spam, Delete forever removes it for good.
Restore a deleted message
- Open Trash.
- Select the message and choose Move to Inbox (or Move to another folder).
Empty the Trash
Right-click Trash and choose Empty Trash. This can't be undone.
Note
Deleted messages still count towards your storage until they leave the Trash. Use Auto cleanup in Settings › Preferences to empty Trash and Spam automatically.
Select many messages
Tick the box next to messages, or use Select all, then archive, delete, move or mark them all at once.
