Saved responses and smart compose
Save text you send often, start from a template, and get suggestions as you type.
On this page
My responses
- Open Settings › Preferences › My responses.
- Select Add response, give it a Name and the Text, and save.
- When writing, open Templates in the message toolbar and pick the response.
Email templates
Templates also offers ready-made layouts — Professional, Meeting Invite, Newsletter, Thank You and Announcement. Replace the text in brackets with your own.
Smart compose
Smart compose suggests how to finish your sentence, using phrases you often send. Press Tab to accept a suggestion or keep typing to ignore it.
Turn it on or off in Settings › Preferences › Smart compose suggestions. It learns on this device only, from your recent sent mail; nothing is sent to any other service or AI model.

Mail templates are available on Pro, Business and Enterprise.
